Construction Wood – Orne
We primarily saw oak and douglas wood.
Oak is a hardwood that retains its quality both before and after sawing, unlike other species such as ash or beech, which can become unstable if stored for extended periods.
Douglas, a softwood, naturally reaches 30% moisture content, making it ready for use in standard construction work right away.
Once the sapwood is removed, it doesn’t require additional protection. Its rich reddish-brown color is highly sought after.
Few sawmills process this wood, and it’s not commonly available through material dealers (unlike spruce).
This gives us a unique position in a less competitive market.
